mobile device center wizzard can t skip exchange

Running Vista beta2 (5384) with Office Outlook 2007 (beta) 12.0.4017.1006). When trying to create a partnership with my Smarthphone c500 (Windows Mobile 2003 2nd edition), the wizzard detects that the Outlook on my laptop can connect to an exchange server. Then the wizzard wants me to enter the exchange server properties. However, I don't want to use the exchange server, because I only sync my mobile device on the laptop when I'm not connected to the network.
The SKIP button is grayed out. When I go to the options and try to edit the sync options and choose Windows PC2 instead of exchange, the Windows PC2 option is grayed out. Also removing the Exchange partnership doesn't bring any results.
Any tips on how to get this working?
